Living Design... The bulk of my inspiration is acquired by molding each project into my own fantasy, and by living vicariously through my work.

The early stages of my design process is relatively simple. Here is an everyday scenerio. The majestic power exhibited by the bull inspires me to illustrate it's likeness, I have always enjoyed the Rat Fink inspired muscle car illustrations from my youth, and the bored out pistons of a mid 70's V8 are my favorite things to stomp on. The combination of these three separate platforms created a large source of inspiration for me and provided a catalyst to begin the Bullbomb Hotrod concept.

Another example of how I find the early foundations of my design process can be seen in Hot Rose. The beauty and elegance represented by the common rose is both soft and sharp. The deep reds, crisp edges, and soft curves of rose petals are irresistible to the senses yet hide a handful of sharp relentless thorns. It is relevant and necessary for me to pay homage to the rose by giving the species it's own muscle car.

The recognition that this is my natural design process is what steered me toward apparel print and product design. What would I want to wear? How would I like to see that new juniors apparel line coordinate perfectly? What does this licensor or private label want to show the masses, and how can I make their needs a reality? These are all questions that I ask myself when faced with each challenge.

Inspiration creates the momentum that builds technique.
